Flea Market

The Flea Market has had significant make-over to become a new flexible event and activity space adjoining the market hall.
We are keen to hear from any community or commercial organisations that would like to use the Flea Market in the future and help us maximise the potential of this wonderful new venue for the town

The Flea Market has been transformed to create a flexible space next to the re-designed and improved market hall with its own entrance so it can now operate outside of the market trading hours. The space has been brought up to the latest standards with new sound system, free wi-fi and hearing loop, a new toilets suite and fully inclusive with level access for all. Opening events coming soon!

The flexible event space created in the Flea Market includes three colourful new murals by Chester-based mural company, Absolutely Design (www.absolutely.design)  highlighting the town’s heritage of the Hooton Park Aerodrome, the first Vauxhall Viva rolling off the production line on 1 June in 1964 and the Shropshire Union Canal.

Graham Boyd, Founder and CEO of Chester-based Absolutely Design, said: “The three designs of the Flea Market murals are deliberately bold, colourful and vibrant to reflect the dynamism of the market and the new events space but also, importantly, refer to some of the Port’s extraordinary industrial history.”

Following a public vote on a shortlist of four options held during 2024, the public chose to retain its existing name. Over 620 votes were cast online via the market’s website.
